Our team is constantly growing so we want to introduce you to some of the new members of the Coffee & TV family. We are sharing a series of interviews with our “new kids on the block”. Find out who they are and why they chose to join the team.

In this interview, our fantastic Production Assistant Dylan Bolister discusses how he went from the construction site to the creative industry.

C&TV

What were you doing before C&TV?

DB

Before I joined I was a runner for a bit at a post house and then I left the industry and did construction for a few months. I quickly realised that life wasn’t for me. I have to admit I didn’t fare too well outside all day lifting bricks.  So I went back and got a new role in a facility where I got some really good experience as a production assistant. Then a role came up at Coffee & TV and I thought it was a chance to step up again. The rest is history.

C&TV

Did you go to Uni?

DB

I didn’t really have strong feelings about going to uni and I also didn’t want to end up in all the student debt, so working was my plan. I was doing my A levels and had a part time job as a waiter at the restaurant in the barbican and my cousin (who works in our industry) said get a job as a runner and see if you like it you like it. And I did.  When I first started running I looked at working in the CG team but I’m not that technical and I know my strengths lie in talking to people, problem solving and project management so production made more sense to me. I love the opportunities production gives you to get out there and meet people and pull a project together.

C&TV

What’s your favourite part of London and why?

DB

I’m Islington born and bred. I have so many memories of the area, good and bad, it’s just the best place. Where I’m from is such a mix, you’ve got Canonbury and Highbury with million pound houses then a council estate next door. I love the two sides of the area, you meet everyone from all different walks of life, it’s a real culture clash.

C&TV

Where do you see yourself in the future?

DB

In the short term, I’ve just completed the APA course. I learn't a lot and it was brilliant to meet similar people from the industry at the same stage in their career.  Long term, I’d love to move up to an executive role as I am really keen to lead, find and support new talent.

C&TV

Why Coffee & TV?

DB

I joined Coffee & TV for a mixture of reasons. I wanted to take a step up in a bigger company, get some more training, and really push myself to work on some bigger projects. I also saw the Best Place to Work in TV win - you can’t really argue with that!

C&TV

Tell me a secret or something people don’t know about you?

DB

My ancestry can be traced all the way back to the barons that signed the Magna Carta in 1215. Nothing fancy, but basically means I'm royalty.  Also I won the Boots Millennium Baby of the Year award when I was little.
