Overview
Coffee & TV is an artist-led creative studio specialising in motion design, animation, VFX and colour. We work with brands, agencies and filmmakers – with 120+ artists across London, New York, Los Angeles & Bangalore. We’re proud to be the UK’s first B Corp-certified creative studio.
The Role
As VFX Creative Director you’ll drive the creative direction of our VFX work from pitch to delivery: setting the standard, shaping how we respond to briefs, and being the person directors, agencies and brands want in the room. This is a senior role with real commercial weight. You’ll be guiding a talented team, driving the quality of everything we put out, and bringing the industry relationships and market fluency that help Coffee & TV grow.
Pitching, new business & client partnerships
Leading pitches from brief to presentation; crafting compelling creative responses that win work and build lasting client relationships. Acting as the primary creative voice on calls and presentations; inspiring confidence in directors and agency creatives whilst reassuring producers on deliverability.
Creative direction & ownership
Owning the creative output on projects from concept through delivery. Serving as the visible creative lead and spokesperson across all client-facing moments. Taking full responsibility for pitches and live projects simultaneously; driving momentum across a busy slate without dropping standards.
Deep on set & VFX knowledge
Leading high-end VFX projects at all stages of production; attending shoots as VFX supervisor and collaborating closely with directors and DoPs.
Standards & craft
Setting and actively driving the bar for quality across VFX output; championing excellence at every stage of production. Bringing a deep compositing sensibility to all projects – setting the benchmark for integration, colour, light and finish.
Innovation & creative development
Proactively pushing forward Coffee & TV’s technical and creative offerings; identifying new tools, techniques and approaches that keep the studio at the leading edge.
3D, motion design and colour literacy
Sufficient understanding of 3D pipelines and motion design workflows to art-direct and collaborate effectively with those teams, without necessarily being a practitioner.
AI & emerging tools
A working knowledge of AI tooling and Weavy; able to identify where these accelerate creative and production outcomes and champion their adoption across the studio.
Team leadership & mentorship
Managing, inspiring and developing the VFX team; fostering a culture of craft, curiosity and continuous improvement.
Commercial & financial acumen
A clear understanding of how VFX projects are delivered profitably and competitively; able to read a budget, protect margins and balance between creative ambition and commercial reality. Skilled at efficient resourcing to maximise profitability and adept at outsourcing with offshore studios.
Industry relationships & network
Bringing established, trusted relationships with production companies, directors and agencies. Well-connected across the commercial production landscape including roster and independent directors and able to open doors to new briefs and collaborations from day one. Existing connections with ECDs at major creative agencies are highly desirable.
Market awareness & competitive positioning
Confident understanding of the London VFX landscape – who the key players are, how the market is evolving and where Coffee & TV can differentiate. Aware of competitor positioning and able to contribute meaningfully to Coffee & TV’s commercial and creative strategy as a result.
