Our team is constantly growing so we want to introduce you to some of the new members of the Coffee & TV family. Over the next few weeks we’ll be sharing a series of interviews with our “new kids on the block”. Find out who they are and why they chose to join the team.

In this interview, our superstar Production Assistant Sorrel Higgins talks about her love of photography and how the Whippets women’s football club brought her to Coffee & TV.

C&TV

What brought you to Coffee & TV?

SH

I met Chops (Chris Chard Co-Founder & Executive Producer), as I am part of the Whippets Football Club he coaches. One training session he sold it to me when he was telling me about the company culture and I saw some of the work Coffee & TV was producing. Everyone at Coffee & TV is so friendly and welcoming and it just seemed like an amazing company to be on board with.

C&TV

What did you do before Coffee & TV?

SH

I am from a photography background, I was retouching and editing photos and shooting but I wanted a change in direction, I always wanted to work in production but I never got the opportunity as I didn’t have the right experience.

C&TV

What is your aim for the future?

SH

I think I want to work towards being a post production supervisor for long form - films and TV. I mean I am still quite fresh into it so there are different avenues I can go down for sure, but that’s what I want to aim for.

C&TV

You did photography at school, has that always been your passion?

SH

Yeah, I kind of landed in it. I did photography at uni as well and then I was lucky to get photography jobs afterwards. Since then I have carried on as a freelancer and I still do some freelance work on the side now, so I still dip into that creative role.

C&TV

What inspires your photography work?

SH

Usually I shoot portraits for musicians so PR and content like album covers and then I have slowly moved into the world of videography as well, so shooting videos and doing my own little projects too like shooting females within the creative industry.

C&TV

Do you have any other hidden skills we don’t know about?

SH

I make a mean banana bread.

C&TV

Is there any job outside of our industry that you have thought about doing?

SH

I have always thought I’d love to work in a garden somewhere, like Kew Gardens or for a country home, to be outside and do landscaping. I think it would be quite therapeutic.

C&TV

Can you tell me a few words that best describe you?

SH

Calm, friendly, and organised.
