Our team is constantly growing so we want to introduce you to some of the new members of the Coffee & TV family. We’re sharing a series of interviews with our “new kids on the block”. Find out who they are and why they chose to join the team.

Within this interview, Producer Kathryn Tallis talks about support with flexible working, what working for a BCorp is like and lets us in on her secret talent.

What were you doing before C&TV

KT

Before Coffee & TV I was a producer for nearly 8 years. I worked my way from digital out of home to versioning to eventually managing a large team of producers. After 8 years I felt it was time to move on and do something different. I was really nervous to put myself out there to find a new role . I was also working part time and I worried other companies might not be open to it. But I heard so many good things about Coffee & TV and from the off, Leonie (MD) was so nice about my part time request and it wasn’t even an issue. This attitude towards flexible and remote working was really supportive and I knew it would be a great place to move on to and embark on a new challenge.

Did you go to Uni?

KT

I went to Manchester Met University, it was a lot of good fun. I studied Contemporary Film and Video. It was a really practical course so it enabled me to get into producing…I just loved managing everyone on my course’s films!   In the second year we got a green screen and it was a game changer for all of us! Back then it was fairly new technology so we loved to experiment with it. There was a lot of flying in films!

What’s your favourite part of London and why?

KT

I just love South East London. I’ve got all my friends and my family nearby so I can often be found around that area if I’m not at work in Soho which I also love. You can’t beat a drink out in Soho on a hot summer's day.

Where do you see yourself in the future?

KT

Aside from producing, I love mentoring people and being a go-to support to others. I also like discovering and nurturing new talent. So I’m hoping I’ll be doing more of this in the future for Coffee & TV.

Why Coffee & TV?

KT

I have always heard so many good things about the company and I know loads of freelancers who said they felt I would fit in.    Everyone is so welcoming and enthusiastic, it just feels like a really nice place and the culture is really refreshing.    Everyone is genuinely so good at what they do and I love that we don’t say yes to every job so nobody gets overworked. There is respect for everyone's time, so we’re given the space to perform and to do a good job. The team is also asked what they want to work on, which is so refreshing, it really makes everyone so much more engaged to produce the best work possible.    Being a B Corp was also really appealing to me, I didn’t know a lot about it before so I’ve really learnt a lot.

Tell me a secret or something people don’t know about you?

KT

I’m an accomplished tap dancer. I was in a ‘tapathon’ in 2019 and I’ve tap danced at the Royal Albert hall.
